How Much Difference Can A Mother’s Voice Make?
How much difference can a mother’s voice make?
When the world is in turmoil and full of hate?
That is the question I asked myself when I found I was
standing on “No Man’s Land,”
Where voices were loud and values shifting like sand.
I felt my heart being pounded and broken down,
And I wanted to stay there weeping on the ground.
My Voice isn’t loud; it is really quite small.
Sometimes my children don’t seem to listen at all.
But if I keep working and choosing the right,
I’ll learn how to lead them from the darkness into the
light.
That is when my thoughts took flight
And I chose to leave that dark fiendish sight.
So I rolled up my sleeves and went back to the trenches.
It was time to return to mending fences.
The best place to start is in my own home;
Making sure my children realize they are never alone.
Their Savior will help them every step of the way
As they follow His path and fervently pray.
I may not be able to feed all those in nature torn places,
Or wipe the tears from far off grieving faces;
But somewhere nearby there is someone sad and alone,
And that someone could live in my very own home.
I can speak love to my spouse, my daughter, son, brother,
sister, and neighbor;
And with gentleness
and kindness faithfully labor
To build up God’s kingdom and in His eyes find favor.
One day my children will rise up strong and brave,
And this great nation they will help to save;
Because they have been given the gift to choose good over
evil,
And liberty is something they don’t want to lose to the
devil.
This war won’t be won with shouting and guns.
It cannot be won if we do not bridle our tongues.
We must speak softly with words full of love;
And help others feel the goodness of the Lord up above.
A mother’s voice may be small; that is all right
as long as she uses it to bring others into His light.
